THE NAME
Matanah, מַתָּנָה, is the Hebrew word for gift. In Numbers 21, verses 18 to 19, it is also the name of the place the people camped straight after the well was given to them. The name is true twice over here: it means a gift, and it was given as one. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”
THE HANDWRITING
The wordmark is my son’s writing. It was tidied enough to hold ink evenly and no further, so the letters still lean where his hand leaned. It gets painted on a wall in ivory enamel with gold leaf underneath, and it is the same mark at every size, from a favicon to a proposal cover. A family firm should sign its own work.
WHY THIS EXISTS
Small businesses with real skill keep ending up with websites that make them look smaller than they are. Meanwhile the sites that do look the part are sold by agencies who stop answering the phone once the invoice clears. I build the thing that should have existed: a site good enough that the owner shows it to people unprompted, that they own outright, made by someone who picks up. The work so far is here.
WHERE
Cumbria, at a desk with a window. The work goes anywhere in the UK, because it has to happen on calls and shared screens either way, and the filming travels.
